John Varvatos USA for Boys Debuts Fall 2012 STYLE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION


September 2012, New York, NY — With the launch of John Varvatos USA for Boys, the brand welcomes a new generation into the world of John Varvatos. The new collection is clearly a member of the Varvatos family, with the distinctive downtown look and edgy rock‘n’roll sensibility for which the brand is known. It’s now scaled down to sizes 4-20, for boys aged 4-14 who want to strut their stuff in style.

John Varvatos USA for Boys is a full collection, including tailored clothing, sportswear, knits and denim with the unique craftsmanship that is familiar to Varvatos customers, and the brand’s own take on Converse shoes. The attention to detail throughout is remarkable, from the signature dagger buttons and dapper linings to the iconic skull, peace sign and starburst graphics. These creative design elements clearly appeal to all ages, from boys to men.

“It really is the next logical step,” said designer John Varvatos, about his decision to expand into the younger market. “Kids express themselves through their style just like adults do, and I think there’s a whole bunch of young guys out there who are connected to music and relate to my aesthetic.”

When these kids want to get dressed up, they can slip into classic, beautifully cut and lined two piece suits in fine wool super 110s and 120s (up to $285). The collection includes cotton dress shirts ($70) and ties with peace sign or fleur-de-lys motifs ($55).

Jackets in corduroy, embossed faux leather or crinkled cotton velvet with metal ($160-175) offer an alternative to the traditional suit with a bit more attitude. They look great paired with t-shirts ($45-$50) emblazoned with USA’s signature emblems and the line’s stretch 5-pocket jeans in black or indigo ($82-98).

Knit pieces include henleys and hoodies ($65-$86), and for kicks there are the iconic Converse high tops, made modern in black leather or olive with metal zippers, launching in Spring 2013.

John Varvatos USA for Boys will be delivered in August to stores including Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom and better specialty retailers nationwide, as well as select John Varvatos boutiques, and www.johnvarvatos.com, just in time for young bucks to line up their new back-to-school looks.
