ISTANBUL NEXT – Fashion Week Berlin S/S 2013

ISTANBUL NEXT - The Future of Fashion Design. Made in Turkey at Fashion Week Berlin - Spring Summer 2013 For the first time the designers Burce Bekrek, Günseli Türkay and Zeynep Erdogan from Istanbul showed their collections for Spring Summer 2013 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. Berlin, July 9th- Last saturday afternoon the fashion platform LINIST together with the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism presented the three designers Burce Bekrek, Günseli Türkay and Zeynep Erdogan who presented their collections for Spring Summer in a group show. Transparency with skin colored mesh in combination with warm earth tones determined the first look of the show. Zeynep Erdogan plays seductively with skillfull cut-outs and swinging skirts reminding us of the 30s fashion era. The newcomer among the three designers, Burce Bekrek, convinced with her architectural brand details on the sleeves as well as on the back parts of a classic blazer or incorporated at whole in a fake-leather skirt. Günseli Türkay with her playful and nature-inspired prints brought the summer to the MBFWB tent. Long bustier- and slipdresses and newly interpreted capes set the tone of the bright show. With yesterday's show ISTANBUL NEXT made his debut as a long-term project designed to accompany the Fashion Week in Berlin. With the support of the Promotion Fund of the Prime Ministry of the Republic Turkey and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the collections of upcoming fashion labels MADE IN TURKEY will be presented to an international fashion audience. The reinforcement of the mutual relations between Berlin and Istanbul is a core concern of the exchange. Berlin´s reputation as a relatively young but growing fashion capital of international attention is guiding the way for Istanbul with its successful progression. Istanbul is already establishing itself as a fashion and art metropolis in a steady pace especially as a bridge to Asia. Both cities can benefit from strengthening their mutual relations and are offering an interesting market for designers, established brands as well for fashionistas from all over the world. Gülriz Egilmez, the curator of the event, asked about the catwalk show and the fair participation: "I am overwhelmed with the positive feedback we got with the first presentation of Istanbul Next in Berlin. The German as well as the international press was very impressed to learn more about Istanbul as an upcoming fashion metropolis. The reactions of the trade visitors and buyers were very affirmative and first contacts to German buyers were made. Politically important guests such as Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit and the turkish Consul General Mustafa Pulat visited us at our booth at Premium Exhbitions and learned more about the exchange. Today' s catwalk show at the internationally renowned Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin was the crowning finale of a promising week for the future of Turkish fashion design." ISTANBUL NEXT is supported by the Promotion Fund of the Prime Ministry of the Republic Turkey and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. the international logistics company DHL, the airline Turkish Airlines, PREMIUM Exhibitions, the turkish shoe brand Shoes&More, the international fashion school ESMOD Istanbul, berlin based PR-Agency Silk Relations GmbH, Istanbul based PR-Agency Trend PR, the concept stores VOO Berlin and Midnight Express Istanbul and Sleek Magazine Berlin are cooperation partners of ISTANBUL NEXT. I was luck at least I found this post to
grab some updates on this show. I’m really attracted for the transparency with
skin collared mesh in combination with warm earth tones, it was amazing.
