Bouchra Jarrar’s Monochrome Collection is Perfect for the Edgy Parisienne
Join us as we take a look at the Bouchra Jarrar Haute Couture fashion show in Paris for spring/summer 2015.
The French designer spoke to us about her latest collection and gave her own explanation of her concept and influences. Jarrar described it as her history to use monochromatic black and ivory and saw it as a masculine statement, rather than a connection between masculine and feminine. She executed her ideas with an intriguing mix of fabrics and designed with a formidable bold woman in mind, “a true Parisienne” who would wear a minimal skirt or trousers.
The collection was cool and chic with various houndstooth fabrics breaking up the black and white along with the folds and zips dissecting the garments. There was a stunning white tuxedo with pleated pants, mini dresses and mini skirts featuring slanted zips, echoed in jackets and reminiscent of biker jackets and leather riding gear re-appropriated into stylish daywear. A huge fox fur collar and several off the shoulder draped silky tops added luxury.
Shiny PVC trousers, and racy mini skirts with thigh baring diagonal zips, along with a sheer backed top with bondage harness straps mixed in some exciting elements of kink and fetish to the otherwise crisp and neutral feel.
