Les Hommes SS 2013

Spring Summer 2013 Collection Far before being the choice of an outfit, nowadays masculine style is mainly a personal matter, a place to display one’s personality. In a world of chaotic changes, virtual bombings and real globalization, Les Hommes Spring Summer 2013 Collection is glimpsed as an oasis where to freely claim one’s own identity through the necessity of standing out everywhere. Fitzcarraldo, the masterpiece of 1982 by director Werner Herzog, is the inspiration for the new collection. The protagonist engages in the utopia of building an Opera Theatre in the Amazonian Forest facing a wild and virgin territory carrying the civilization and knowledge of the Old World. The Summer collection is consequently a tribute to the refinement and sophistication of the British and European man of the 30’s and 40’s enriched with a strong contamination of geometric designs from the indigenous tribes. A mixture of tradition and naturalness in a reflection of the contemporary world unstably balanced between the wide ocean of 20th Century’s aesthetics and the wider heavy seas of current changings. Knitwear is inspired by body painting with tribal patterns and dense colors as coral, emerald, blue navy, black and white. The perfection of tailoring melts with sharp lines joining fluidity with construction, as in the silk pyjama-suit, deconstructed to become an effortless creation of the wind. Accessories enhance elegance with of luxury using precious materials as patent and eel leather. Palazzo Castiglioni is the breathtaking stage of the Les Hommes Spring Summer Show. The well-known architect Giuseppe Sommaruga designed this historic building as the manifesto of Milan Art Nouveau. Models walk down the majestic marble staircase that replaces the usual catwalk, reinforcing the concept of recreating a new world where the outfit becomes the stage for the play showcasing their own personality.
