Viktor & Rolf Take the Quintessential Summer Look to the Extreme with Blossoming Florals and Straw Hats

Fashion One brings you the Viktor & Rolf spring/summer 2015 Haute Couture show from Paris. The Dutch duo, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, delighted with their playful and original approach to summer couture fashion.

In an exclusive interview with the designers they spoke to us about the concept of the collection. They wanted to re-interpret the quintessential summer outfit - a floral dress, flip flops and a straw hat - and try to create something surreal from this, transforming a flat surface into something 3D.

The collection featured voluminous baby doll dresses increasingly widening and blossoming into three dimensional flowers all with the same print that had been colored in a multitude of ways in bright African textile hues. The models wore thick soled flip flops in matching fabrics and elaborate straw hats with sticks of barley, grass and wheat colored flowers woven in. As the the show went on the dresses and hats became more intertwined, as if growing naturally into each other.

Rolf Snoeren described the garments and accessories organically morphing into one. He considers couture to be a laboratory for ideas an a place for experimentation, as the label showed its talent for free thinking innovation and artistic creativity yet again.
