You Can’t Fake Fashion

Today, the Council of Fashion Designer's of America have released their second line of "You Can't Fake Fashion" exclusively designed tote bags. In an effort to combat counterfeiting designer goods and to celebrate original design within the fashion industry, many top designers in the fashion industry have participated in designing custom bags for the initiative.The 76 customized designs and four unique tote styles are being sold exclusively on Ebay with free shipping. The CEO of the CFDA, Stephen Colb, explains the collection:
"The CFDA works to protect designers’ intellectual property, and fighting counterfeits is a critical issue to CFDA, eBay and the fashion industry at large. We continue to collaborate with eBay on this bold campaign to educate shoppers on the dangers of counterfeits, raise awareness of our mutual dedication to the fight against fakes and emphasize the importance of original design."
There are 4 standard base tote bags at an affordable price of $45. The standard totes come in the styles: Duffle, Satchel, Gear, and Bucket.

The 75 one-of-a-kind totes, each customized by CFDA designers, are all at a fixed price of $200. Just a few of the designers that contributed to the project include: Betsey Johnson, Diane Von Furstenberg, Nicole Miller, rag & bone, Robert Geller, and Tony Burch.

While buying that fake Louis Vuitton bag on a sketchy street corner in Chinatown may seem like a good deal, let us remember the hardworking designers who sketched the design of these popular purses and bags. Do not forget that fashion design is art and buying a knock off copy of any style is ripping off the designer and belittling the art behind fashion.
